London- Day 2

Today was amazing! Although the jet lag got me up at 3am (Brendan slept like a baby until morning), we still managed to get in a full day worth of sights. We took the underground into central London at around 8:15 after breakfast at the hostel. One of the first things we got to do was walk down Bond Street, which is a row of super high-end shops such as Prada, Dolce and Gabbana and Yves Saint Laurent. A much classier neighbourhood compared to where our hostel is located! Next we walked up through St. Regent's Park, then through Hyde Park. Hyde Park was beautiful! We walked around this giant lake where we saw lots of funny-looking swans. I think I found them a lot funnier than Brendan did, but look at that leg!
After Hyde Park we made our way down to Buckingham Palace. There were tons of people there! We arrived just as they were doing the changing of the guard, which I was pretty happy to see. We had an amazing view, which was pretty lucky considering we just stumbled upon the event! Unfortunately, the Queen did not grace us with her presence.

Next, we walked down to Westminster Abbey. Unfortunately, we didn't go in because the line was super long and it was pretty expensive. We went to this smaller church right next to it though. Brendan really enjoyed reading all the grave stones and historical information while my feet enjoyed a much needed rest. Thereafter, we made our way down to Big Ben! I thought this was the coolest part of the day. It's so massive and such a monumental figure; I was awestruck!
And last, but not least we walked down to the London Eye. We didn't go on it today, but we found an online deal where can visit Madame Tussauds, the London Eye, the London Dungeon and the London Aquarium for 30% off so we will be doing all that tomorrow!

It was definitely a long day, but lots of fun. Hopefully our feet will be recovered by tomorrow.
